1. Performance
A performance is a situation whereby the artist/s behave in certain way in order to entertain their audience, usually done through dance. Above is an example of a performance music video, Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" displays a series of dance moves, choreographed cleverly to be sync to the song.
2. Abstract
This music video "Big Sean - Fire" is an example of an abstract video, as their is no clear narrative if any and the visuals do not seem to match to lyrics as their is no correlation, excluding the fact that in one or to scenes elements of fire are shown to the audience.
3. Narrative
Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" is excellent example of a Performance structured music video, as the video matches accurately with visuals, this allows the audience to follow the narrative quite easily. This links in well with Goodwin's theory of the creation of a music video.
4. Hybrid
This music video is an example of what is called a 'hybrid', this is when there is a mixture of any of the different structures explained above in a music video. Typically, music videos contain elements of both narrative and performance like in this example however this is not the case all the time.
