Closing Statement

Media studies over the course of two years has been very pleasurable. This year in particular has allowed to develop and embrace my technical and practical skills. By regularly using resources such as the Apple macs, final cut express and the Cannon cameras. I have thoroughly enjoyed constructing  my own music video, and been put in various situation where creativity is key. I have also enjoyed exploring theorists such Andrew Goodwin, who has a huge impact on media and how us as the public perceive them.Although there were times where I found the subject to be challenging I  very happy that I pursued the course and I am sad to see it come to an end.

My Practice CD Cover

In my lesson this morning my class and I began to explore photoshop as a tool to enhance our potential digipak covers. In order to complete the artillary task for the digipaks, my group and I intend to use photoshop to construct this. Below is an example of a CD cover produced today as a practiced, as I have never used this tool before, this allowed me to develop the skills I need to produce a high standard digipak.

What is a Digipak?

A Digipak is a type of CD packaging, used to promote sales of the artist and their music. This sort of advertising is still quite popular with record companies as they give consumers a reason to buy CD's. They are usually constructed with pictures of the artist on front and other related information to the artist. A lot of loyal customers will still go out purchase these products as they are very personalised and offer content that is possibly not available digitally.

Production Diary 1

Logo Idea

Above is our final logo, this was created using photoshop and will be used as a way for our audience to quickly identify our company as it will be visible on all merchandise and production work done by the group. In terms of ideas for the logo, we thought it would be best to incorporate iconic colours that are associated with this type of genre of music, alternative music. As shown, we decided to use black and white as they are simplistic yet trendy colours which we have used throughout our music video, aiding consistency. The company name 'SOLAR' has a direct link to our logo image, which again conforms to our choice of colour, giving us an effective logo which is likely to catch the eye of our target audience.

Font Choice

We have chosen this font because our video concept is Alice In Wonderland and we feel that this font fits our skewed, distorted ideas of the fairytale. We were at first unsure about what to use for our font, but we were very excited when we found this because it ultimately is our video concept. To keep the continuity of our digipak and website we will use this font for everything we do: album text, website font etc.
